In 1978 Claude Howard Lumber Company, Inc. opened a retail lumber yard on
Granade Street in Statesboro, GA. It's main function was to serve as a retail
outlet for southern yellow pine, which is produced to this day by the company.
In May of 1988, Smith Building Supply Company, located at 20 East Vine Street,
sold their business to Mr. C. Arthur Howard and Mr. Cecil B. Howard. The
company was then renamed Howard Lumber & Hardware, Inc and shortly
thereafter moved to its present location, 600 Gentilly Road, Statesboro, GA.
Since the opening of the new store, Howard Lumber has prospered and has
become a strong company dedicated to serving the community with a high
degree of customer service and satisfaction.
We take pride in service and our reputation has been built on customer service
and we believe that the "customer is the boss."
